Tips to prevent your blog(s) from being hacked.
July 30, 2005

I’m sure by now many of us Bloggers, be it professional or personnal bloggers, would have known about the ever increasing rate of blogs being hacked
Why are hackers targetting Blogs?..It’s a question that is yet to find a conclusive answer.
New Paper reports:
" Last week, well-known blogger Wendy Cheng, or Xiaxue, filed a police report after her website was hacked and her data erased.
This week, The New Paper learnt that the blog of another Internet personality, known to the public as Nikki, the anti-Aids campaign poster girl, had also been hacked."
In this article I’m tryng to get responds from fellow bloggers on how to prevent our blogsfrom being hacked. Please use the comment form below to share your opinion
Tips I can think of:
1. Change Passwords often:
This can’t be stressed enough..it’s the root of all hacking problems,
as this is how it happened to Wendy Cheng (Xiaxue)
Always try to mix your passwords with Number and words & upper and lower case combo’s.
and try…in fact You must NOT!! use the same Password for other sites..prepare 1 unique
password per site.
2. Don’t connect your e-mail with your Blog.
To simply put it..try your best not to let the potential Hacker know which e-mail address
you are using as your point of contact from your blog.
Example:
I’ve seen many blogs with the “Gmail e-mail add bar”

This is quite a dangerous thing to do, because you are unknowingly giving the hacker
the exact e-mail add that you are using.
Also, always make sure that your e-mail Password and your blog password are completely
different.
That is all i can think of at the moment, i will update this article if the need arises.
What action can be taken against a hacker?
According to the Computer Misuse Act, people who hack or deface a website can be jailed up to three years or fined up to $10,000.

Defining the Relations Between Blogs, E-zines, RSS and E-mail
July 30, 2005

Although RSS and blogs are slowly reaching mainstream, they are still missuderstood by most marketers in relation to eachother and in relation to their relatives, e-zines and e-mail. How do these four really relate and what does this mean for your internet marketing strategy?
The most common missconception is comparing blogs and e-mail, with many bloggers actually touting blogs as a replacement for e-mail. The truth is, there’s no comparison at all, just like comparing apples and oranges.
The second missconception is believing that RSS and blogs are somehow strongly related or even that RSS is good only for delivering blog content. The result of this on one side are marketers who do not see RSS as a full-powered communicational channel, and bloggers on the other side who refuse to see e-mail as a viable content delivery vehicle.
Let’s set the record straight …
RSS and e-mail are content delivery channels; the tools that enable us to deliver our content to end-users, and in the case of RSS, to other websites as well.
Blogs and e-zines are two different internet media content formats, differing in how/what content is provided and presented through them.
Explained in even simper terms:
Blogs and e-zines or newsletters are “the what” — what you publish online … the content side.
RSS and e-mail are “the how” — how you get that content or information to the reader … the delivery side.
RSS/e-mail and blogs/e-zines cannot be directly compared. Blog content and e-zine content can both be delivered via RSS and e-mail, and there is no direct business/logical relation between, for example, blogs and RSS.
